Unhappy Happy Meal

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

I went for a walk tonight to get my bike from school (where I had left it by a mistake), and I brought the Nikon D40 with me to get some snapshots on the road. Somehow these "snapshots" ended up being 104 exposures, but barely any of them were good. It was getting too dark and most of them are really blurry.
The trip made me start thinking though. I found so much garbage on the way to my school. First I found an empty can of beer smashed into the ground:

Then a very unhappy Happy Meal box, or so it seemed at least:

And at last, a forgotten Big Mac between some rocks on top of a fence:

I can’t understand how people can leave things around like that. There are garbage bins just about everywhere, what’s the problem with carrying your trash for a few more metres and then throw it?

Anyway, I’m not in the mood for ranting about the environment right now. I’m just happy the sun is finally showing itself again and I’m able to take the camera outside to take pictures from real life instead of macro and such ^^
So yeah, I took some more pictures as well of course. Here are some:

Going to bed now, then…
Good night! :)

Yesterday I wanted to upload and show you some pictures from a walk I had to the beach on wednesday. Actually, I managed to only push the preview button instead of the publish button, then closed the window, and voila: My blog entry was gone.
Anyway. My walk to the beach ended up being a lot further than I had planned. I walked about 5km from the bus stop next to a main road. There were a lot of cars and it was a bit scary. So scary I got my camera from my bag and started shooting flower pictures where there was no pavement to walk on. Smart me. A truck honked at me, but it seems I survived anyway.
I’ll upload the pictures again then:

I hope you enjoy! (=

Movie Almost Finished :D

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

So the Red Cross commercial is fianlly getting somewhere. Almost all the nescessary pictures are shot and edited, and I’m looking forward to putting it all together properly. Unfortunately I have a project about Congo that I must finish by Thursday, so I won’t be able to put the commercial together before the weekend.
Here are the finished pictures for the movie:

Popular at school…

But not as popluar at home…

Good friends at home…

…but maybe the opposite at school

Eager on being a good pupil…

…but maybe not as eager on your own life

Eating candy with friends…

…but maybe it doesn’t get to stay for too long (any other suggestions for how to say this one,..? I’m trying to express anorexia)

So yeah, that’s it. In the end I’m going to have some information and so on, a phone number and yah… And if you didn’t read my previous blog entry: I’m going to use the song “How to Save a Life” by The Fray.
Any comments or critiques about the images are very welcome. I want this project to turn out as good as possible!

R.I.P Delara

Friday, May 1st, 2009

So I just checked out some recent news from Amnesty, andthe newest heading was "Death of Delara".

Delara Darabi was an Iranian woman that I, and so many other activists around the world, have been fighting for for many years.

Delara was said to be a really nice and caring person. She always took the blame when something bad was done, even if someone else had done it. When she was seventeen years old, she was arrested. Arrested for murderer. And she admitted to have done it at first, though later a different story came to the surface.

Her older boyfriend was the real murderer, it’s said. She took the blame because she’s underaged and they didn’t think she could get punished by death. At least that’s what the law says.

Unfortunately for Delara, they were wrong. She’s been improsoned for many years now. Activists around the world have fought for her, and time after time have we managed to postpone her execution.

Today, on May 1, they executed her without a warning. Not even her lawyer was warned. Nobody expected anything to happen before June. But it did.

I don’t understand. She never got a fair trial. And now they even executed her without anyone knowing? It makes me sad, but mostly outraged. I hope the Iranian government will get to feel this one and regret that they ever even arrested Delara Darabi.

Some facts:140 people have been executed in Iran so far this year. Two of them were children*

*Child = person below 18 years of age when crime took place.

Can’t the world just….. make Iran stop? They’re going crazy with all their executions down there.
